GLENN REYNOLDS

Law Professor at the University of Tennessee

Glenn Reynolds is a constitutional scholar and law professor who teaches and has written extensively on the 2nd Amendment. Recently his essay The Second Amendment as Ordinary Constitutional Law, was chosen as the Forward to the Tennessee Law Review’s 2014 2nd Amendment Symposium.

WHO IS GLENN REYNOLDS? I’m a law professor at the University of Tennessee. (National Jurist named me one of 23 law professors you must take before you die.) I write various law review articles, opeds, and other stuff. I’m a Contributing Editor at Popular Mechanics. I’m a columnist at The Washington Examiner. My most recent book is An Army of Davids : How Markets and Technology Empower Ordinary People to Beat Big Media, Big Government, and Other Goliaths. My next most recent book is The Appearance ofImpropriety: How the Ethics Wars Have Undermined American Government, Business and Society, (The Free Press, 1997) coauthored with Peter W. Morgan. For something completely different, see Environmental Regulation of Nanotechnology: Some Preliminary Observations, from the April, 2001 Environmental Law Reporter. Some of my other law review writings can be found in PDF form here. I’ve also written for The Atlantic Monthly, URB, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, The New York Times, and numerous other publications.

I’m interested in everything, but my chief interest is in the intersection between advanced technologies and individual liberty. The vast majority of my writing touches on this in one way or another.

I’m also very interested in music. I produce, write for, or perform with a number of bands (but not “Pachyderm Party” — that’s a different Glenn Reynolds), including Mobius Dick, The Nebraska Guitar Militia, and the Defenders of the Faith. I own a small record company (it’s not organized as a nonprofit, but it might as well be) with my brother and another guy, called WonderDog Records. Some of my favorite acts are Cecilia Noel and the Wild Clams, BT, The Supreme Beings of Leisure, and, of course, Creedence Clearwater Revival.

There’s lots more about me, in the unlikely event you’re that interested, in this interview from The Yale Law Report. Also, here’s a profile from The New York Times. Here’s a profile from Forbes. And if you’re a journalist, you may want to look at this list of FAQs for journalists. And here’s a more recent profile from the New York Times.
